FAQ
How do you convert minutes to decimal?
Divide the number of minutes by 60. For example, 20 minutes ÷ 60 = 0.33 hours and 50 minutes ÷ 60 = 0.83 hours. Add the result to the whole hours, so 6 hours 20 minutes becomes 6.33 hours. Round to two decimal places for most payroll and timesheet systems.
What is 6-minute rounding?
Some payroll and billing systems record time in tenths of an hour, where each 0.1 equals 6 minutes. If the system always rounds up, 1 to 6 minutes counts as 0.1, 7 to 12 minutes as 0.2, and so on. Check whether your employer rounds up or to the nearest tenth, because the rule changes the totals.
